Prototype Information: The Vossloh G1206 is a B'B' diesel hydraulic freight locomotive for line and heavy shunting service, built in Kiel, Germany and used by several European railway operators. It was designed in the mid-1990s by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK), and further manufactured by Vossloh after it acquired MaK. Its power output is 2,000 hp (1500 kW) or 2,110 hp (1570 kW), depending on the selected engine (Caterpillar or MTU).

More than 160 G1206 have been built and delivered for operation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and France.
They are referred to as CFL series 1500 in Luxembourg and as SNCF BB 61000 in France.

Vossloh Locomotives GmbH, the former MaK locomotive plant in Kiel acquired in 1998, produces diesel hydraulic locomotives, for freight and shunting purposes.

Vossloh AG is a German transport technology manufacturer based in Werdohl in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Approximately 60% of its sale came from the rail infrastructure division, and the remainder from the motive power and components division.
The rail infrastructure division's key products are the devices (clamping terminals) for fastening the rail to the railway sleepers (railroad ties), railroad switches and switch controllers.
