Transportation Company - Black Mesa and Lake Powell - Railroad

Company History: BLKM was built in the early 1970s and runs 78 miles between a coal mine near Kayenta to a power plant in Page, Arizona. The entire line runs within the Navajo Nation. It is not connected to the North American rail network so new equipment must be trucked in. Trains are powered by E60 electrics that were purchased new, and E60C-2’s acquired from NdeM, under 50,000 volt catenary. A typical day sees three round trips from the mine to the power plant and back.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
