Company History: The CTM was launched in 2007 to take over operation of former Milwaukee Road trackage in the Goose Island industrial area of Chicago. Not long after, they also took over the operation (from the bankrupt Central Illinois Railroad) of trackage in the Centex Industrial Park in the Chicago suburb of Elk Grove Village. This line was originally part of C&NW. The same year, they leased the trackage in the Bensenville Industrial Park (close to the Centex Park) from Canadian Pacific. This was also a former Milwaukee Road route. CTM runs an SW8, an SW1500, and a GP10 – one locomotive for each line. In 2018, CTM turned over operation of the industrial park in Elk Grove Village to the Progressive Rail shortline group who established the Chicago Junction Railroad to operate it.
