Transportation Company - Cliffside - Railroad

Company History: This little four mile line was built to connect Cliffside, North Carolina (about 60 miles west of Charlotte) to a connection with Seaboard Air Line at Cliffside Junction. The line opened in 1905. In later years, traffic consisted of scrap metal, textiles and waste. In 1984, Seaboard System sold their 4 and half mile connecting line from Cliffside Junction to Ellenboro to the Cliffside, effectively doubling the length of the shortline. By late 1987, the last customers had faded away and operations ended.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
