Color: Black and Gold
Materials: A 750 solid gold clip on the cap, which, like the barrel, is made of black precious resin. The Dragon's eyes are two glowing rubies, and between it's teeth it holds a precious cultivated freshwater pearl.
Design: Asia is home to some of the oldest cultures, which have also had a considerable influence on the Western world. Philosophy, medicine and astronomy, the calendar and paper and ink were part of everyday life in Asia long before they came to Europe. And as in the Western world, the year 2000 had a very special significance in Asia, particularly for the Chinese horoscope: it was the yer of the Golden Dragon, a sign that occurs only once every 60 years and promises all those born under it magical powers and happiness. The Special Theme Edition Year of the Golden Dragon, in which European writing culture is combined with Far-Eastern tradition, acknowledges Asia's cultural and artistic contribution. With both Limited Editions, the golden dragon is a central element of the pens: on Limited Edition 2000, it comes in the form of an 750 solid gold clip on the cap, which, like the barrel, is made of black precious resin. The Dragon's eyes are two glowing rubies, and between it's teeth it holds a precious cultivated freshwater pearl. Limited Edition 888 is also based on this Far-Eastern symbol for happiness and success: in this edition, a hand-painted dragon decorates the cap of the fountain pen, the whole of which is made of the finest Meissen porcelain in the traditional colors of the Chinese dynasties. A feature common to both editions is the motif on the 18-carat gold nib - the engraving of the Chinese characters for the Year of the Dragon. Unlike in European myths and legends, in Far Eastern mythology the dragon is a symbol of good fortune and happiness. As the Lord of the East, he is responsible for watching over the wind, rain, springs and rivers, and for maintaining harmony between heaven and earth. The Limited Edition The Year of the Golden Dragon 2000 is a tribute to the achievements of Asian culture, combining Montblanc's classic black and gold design with far eastern symbolism. The fountain pen is made of black precious resin, with the clip representing a dragon "playing" with a pearl.
