Specific Item Information: Three underframe retro-fit kits which includes magnets and metal plates

For Micro-Trains brand. These underframes come with three installed magnets and metal plates to attach to the inside top of the M-T container. This will add the JTC magnetic system and give magnetic compatibility for stacking on top of the JTC 40' HC containers with magnets, JTC 20' std. containers with magnets; JTC open/canvas top containers with magnets, Atlas brand 40' containers with magnetic kit, other M-T containers with this kit, on top of the ScaleTrains containers that have our magnetic kit and future JTC 1:160 scale containers.

Sold in packages to convert 3 models. Modelers will need to remove the M-T cast on IBC pins for compatibility with other brand models, or use with existing pins for M-T brand.
Model Information: Micro-Trains released this as a new body style in November of 2016. MTL had previously released a 48-footer but that model was a redecorated Deluxe body with smooth sides. For their rib side offering, MTL made the decision to create their own tooling. With this new series, MTL further expanded its line of domestic shipping containers.
Prototype History:
An intermodal container is a large standardized shipping container, designed and built for intermodal freight transport, meaning these containers can be used across different modes of transport – from ship to rail to truck – without unloading and reloading their cargo. Intermodal containers are primarily used to store and transport materials and products efficiently and securely in the global containerized intermodal freight transport system, but smaller numbers are in regional use as well. These containers are known under a number of names, such as simply container, cargo or freight container, ISO container, shipping, sea or ocean container, container van or (Conex) box, sea or c can.

The 48-foot (14.63 m) shipping container is a High Cube container in that it is 9 ft 6 in (2.90 m) tall on the exterior. It is 8 ft 6 in (2.59 m) wide which makes it 6 inches (15 cm) wider than ISO-standard containers. This size was introduced by container shipping company APL in 1986, and is used domestically in North America on road and rail, and may be transported on deck by ship. This size being 8 feet (2.44 m) longer and 6 inches (15 cm) wider has 29% more volume capacity than the standard 40-ft High Cube, yet the cost to move it by truck or rail are almost the same.

Road Name History:
Although they may be molded in color, unpainted and unlettered, undecorated products are marketed to modelers who seek to custom decorate their models for private roads and/or road and/or company names that were not commercially produced by any of the major manufacturers.

Undecorated models are frequently also unassembled or only partially assembled and required modelers to be comfortable with glue, paint and sometimes solder in order to prepare their models for display. Materials for these models can vary but often include plastic, pewter and resin. Models may or may not come with decals or other decorations such as plastic signage, railings and ladders to enhance the appearance of the final product.
