Wilmington & Western

Company History: This line began in 1966 as a tourist train operator running on the Baltimore & Ohio line from Wilmington to Hakessin, Delaware (about 10 miles.) B&O owned the line and handled all the freight traffic. In 1982, B&O contracted out the freight service to Octoraro Railway. Two years later, B&O sold the line to Wilmington & Western. Octoraro took their leave and Wilmington & Western became a freight hauling shortline in addition to a tourist line. Today, it's the tourist trains (often behind steam) that pay the bills and freight movements are few and far between.

Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
