Transportation Company - Acadiana - Railroad

Company History: This line is the result of a 1990 spinoff from Union Pacific. Acadiana operates 84 miles of former Missouri Pacific routes in south central Louisiana. It runs from Crowley to Eunice, then over UP trackage rights to Opelousas, then on their own line to Bunkie. There is also a branch from McCall to Lula. They began operation of the latter in 2000. They are headquartered in the town of Opelousas. In the early years, they were handling about 130 cars per week. Traffic is likely heavier now. The AKDN diesel fleet includes a pair of GP30’s, a GP9RM, a GP10, an SW1200 and an SW1500.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
