Notes: This watch is a no-date Oyster Perpetual. The case is 18k yellow gold. This model appears to have been sold with either a leather strap or a gold bracelet (likely at a higher price point). The bezel is smooth. The dial faces can vary but blue, champagne, white and gray are all common. The hour marks are usually index or roman but can be also and index/arabic combination. I have only seen 3-link (oyster) bracelets, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a jubilee (5-link) bracelet on one of these. Unlike many similar Rolex models, this one does not seem to have a diamond hour mark option.

This watch was upgraded in the 2000s with a higher quality movement and marketed as a 14208M.
Mechanism:
The Rolex caliber 3000 automatic watch movement was introduced in 1990. It was used until around 2001. Found in Non-date models: 14000, 14010, 14060, 14270. The movement phased out the first of the brand’s entirely in-house manufactured range of movements, the 1500 series. It was an extended process, with the two groups running simultaneously for a number of years. It wasn’t until 1990, for example, that the Cal. 1570 was replaced in the Air-King ref. 14000 models with the new Cal. 3000. One of the simplest movements in the series, the Cal. 3000 became the last caliber Rolex created themselves to not feature a Breguet overcoil on the hairspring.
Family Notes: In 1926, Hans Wilsdorf introduced the Oyster watch which used a waterproof case, hence the name. He added "Perpetual" to the name when in 1933 he introduced a reliable automatic self-winding watch. Hence the name means "Waterproof, Self-Winding" in Rolex-speak and generally means the watch is water resistant to a depth of 100 meters.
