Description: This work depicts famed Moulin Rouge singer Yvette Guilbert during a performance. Her head is tilted back and her eyes are closed to emphasize the emotional quality of her song. Lautrec carefully outlines the ruffles of her performance dress to emphasize her femininity. Her face is partly shaded to reflect the dim lighting of the Parisienne dance hall.
