Eastern Massachusetts Street

Company History: The EMSRwy was established in 1919 with the reorganization of the Bay State Street Railway with streetcar lines connecting Boston (via connections with the Boston Elevated Railway) with Chelsea, Lynn, Salem, Melrose, Woburn, Quincy, Weymouth, Glouster, Lawrence, Haverhill, Lowell, Brockton, and Taunton. Conversion to bus service began in the 1920s and spread slowly across the system. The last streetcars appear to have run in 1948.
