The Seiko Sportsmatic 5 was named for the five key features present in every watch of this type: (1) the Diaflex, Seiko’s unbreakable mainspring, (2) the Diashock shock resistant design, (3) 3 bar water resistance, (4) day and date display in a single window, (5) an automatic movement. Its uniqueness was evident also in the case design, with the crown hidden behind the 4 o’clock position. The Seiko 5 series has now been in production for over 50 years.
