Transportation Company - Corinth & Counce - Railroad

Company History: The CCR began construction in 1958 and opened in 1959 a line between Corinth, Mississippi and Counce, Tennessee, a distance of 16 miles. In 1974, they added a 10 mile branch between Sharp and Yellow Creek, Mississippi. Packaging Corporation of America was the largest customer and they bought the railroad in 1970. In addition to traffic to and from the PCofA plant, CCR also moved plastics, steel, and grain. You may be familiar with this line due to their large fleet of light blue boxcars acquired during the per diem boxcar boom. At the end of 1991, PCofA sold the railroad to MidSouth who changed the name from Corinth & Counce to Tennrail. Today, the line is part of Kansas City Southern.
