Company History: The Wyandotte Terminal was built in 1904 to link two plants of the Michigan Alkali Company along the Detroit River in Wyandotte, Michigan. Michigan Alkali was later renamed Wyandotte Chemical. The railroad dieselized in 1945 with Baldwin switchers. A GE 65-tonner joined the fleet a bit later. They connected with the Michigan Central (controlled by New York Central,) Detroit Toledo & Ironton and fellow shortline Wyandotte Southern. In 1982, the chemical plant decided to exit the railroad business, closed the Wyandotte Terminal and invited Conrail and DT&I to switch the plants instead.
