Specific Item Information: Tilling green with cream masking is the body colour for this great little double decker in Western National livery on Service No. 55 and registered OTT 4, taking passengers to Pentire via Narrowcliff/East Street. It is advertising key tourist attractions in Torquay on the near side and the Royal Blue Express Coach Services on the offside. Finely detailed touches include the black foothole for the driver to climb into the cab and fine black lines along the length of the bus above and below the advertising panels.
Prototype History:
The Bristol Lodekka was a half-cab low-height step-free double-decker bus built by Bristol Commercial Vehicles in England. It was the first production bus design to have no step up from the passenger entrance throughout the lower deck. Bristol manufactured over 5,200 Lodekkas from 1949 to 1968, as a standard double-deck vehicle for the UK state-owned bus sector
