Transportation Company - Luxapalila Valley - Railroad

Company History: The LXVR was the result of the 1996 spin-off of the 35 mile line between Columbus, Mississippi and Belk, Alabama from Norfolk Southern. It was established as a subsidiary of Columbus & Greenville. Both lines joined the Genesee & Wyoming family of shortlines in 2008. Traffic includes chemicals, forest products, plastics and waste. The LXVR locomotive fleet consists of a pair of former Southern Railway GP38s set up to run long-hood-forward. The two units had been built for the original Norfolk Southern with low short-hoods. Southern gave them a nose job and moved the control stands after they acquired the original NS in 1973.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
