Company History: The LCR was established in 2012 to purchase the 41 mile former Canadian Pacific line from Estevan west to Outram, Torquay, Bromhead and Tribune, Saskatchewan. Traffic includes grain and frac sand although they expect to be moving crude oil as well before too long. A group of 25 local shareholders own the company. LCR is unusual in that it is a Railroad and not a Railway. While the two terms are interchangeable and both are common in the United States (with Railroad have a slight edge in numbers,) in Canada the term Railway is used in company names with very few exceptions.
Brief History: Canada is a North American country stretching from the U.S. in the south to the Arctic Circle in the north. Major cities include massive Toronto, west coast film centre Vancouver, French-speaking Montréal and Québec City, and capital city Ottawa. Canada's vast swaths of wilderness include lake-filled Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains. It's also home to Niagara Falls, a famous group of massive waterfalls.
