Transportation Company - Marianna & Blountstown - Railroad

Company History: The 40 mile M&B was built in 1909 from a connection with the Louisville & Nashville in Marianna to Blountstown then onto Scotts Ferry in the Florida Panhandle. 4-6-0’s and 2-8-0’s seemed to be the wheel arrangements of choice in the steam era. Passenger service ended in 1929. The Scotts Valley end was abandoned in 1938. The line dieselized in 1947 with Whitcomb being the favored builder. Traffic included farm goods (mostly watermelons and cucumbers) and lumber. The M&B was abandoned in 1972.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
