Company History: The MWRY was launched in 1989 to be the designated operator of a 22 mile line between Weatherford and Mineral Wells, Texas that was owned by the city of Mineral Wells. The city bought the route from Missouri Pacific to stave off its abandonment. Traffic included beer, brick, forest products, minerals and plastics. Traffic was light, barely keeping a single GP30 busy. When the city pulled the operating subsidy in the spring of 1992, the railroad was closed and abandoned.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
