Company History: The NCPR was launched in 1980 when the state of North Carolina purchased the harbor area trackage in Wilmington and Morehead City from Southern and Seaboard Coast Line respectively. In 1986, the state leased the Wilmington trackage to the new Wilmington Terminal Railroad and the Morehead City trackage to Carolina Rail Services.
