Company History: The SFBR was established in 2000 to resurrect service on the San Francisco Belt Railroad. The two Alco S-2’s that had been on long term loan to the Golden Gate Railroad Museum were returned and modified to burn bio-diesel. The two switchers were repainted with their classic San Francisco Belt Railroad lettering. They switch nearly five miles of track between Pier 80 and Pier 94/95 in San Francisco. They also use a Trackmobile to switch some terminal trackage in Richmond, California across the bay. Most of the traffic is waste soil.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
