Transportation Company - Seagraves Whiteface & Lubbock - Railroad

Company History: The SWLR was launched in 1990 as a subsidiary of Amerail to purchase the 107 mile line from Lubbock southwest to Seagraves and Whiteface, Texas from Santa Fe. This operation lasted until 1995 when RailAmerica bought the property from Amerail and established the West Texas & Lubbock Railroad to operate it.
Successor/Parent History:
This line got started in 1995 when RailAmerica bought the Seagraves Whiteface & Lubbock (a 1990 Santa Fe spin off) and changed the name to West Texas & Lubbock. With a little bit of expansion, WT&L ran 107 miles of former Santa Fe and Fort Worth & Denver routes in the greater Lubbock, Texas area. In 2002, RailAmerica lost interest and leased the WT&L to Iowa Pacific Holdings who bought the line outright two years later. WT&L was closely affiliated with IPH stablemate Texas - New Mexico Railroad. They even shared a logo. In 2015, Iowa Pacific sold the WT&L to the Watco shortline group and they changed the name to Lubbock & Western Railway.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
