Company History: Augusta Railroad was the product of the 1918 reorganization of Augusta Tramway & Transfer which connected the town of Augusta, Arkansas with Missouri Pacific’s Bald Knob – Memphis mainline. Traffic was always light as was their locomotive fleet. In the steam era, a Davenport 0-4-2T worked the line. The diesel era brought light industrial locomotives from Plymouth and Vulcan. The line was abandoned in the early 1980s.
