Company History: The Caney River Railway was a 3’ gauge logging line running from Bald Mountain to the sawmill and a connection with the South & Western (later the Carolina Clinchfield & Ohio) at Huntdale, North Carolina. The line opened in 1903 and closed in 1909 when the timber reserves played out
