Transportation Company - Chicago & Southern Traction - Railroad

Company History: The C&ST was established in 1904 with the goal of building an electric interurban line from Chicago to Kankakee, Illinois and Lafayette, Indiana. In 1905 they bought the Chicago Electric Traction Company (which had been in receivership since 1901 after converting from battery power to trolley.) By 1907, construction had pushed as far as Kankakee but was running short of funds. In 1910, the company slipped into receivership. In 1912, the line was dismembered with routes in the city of Chicago sold to Chicago City Railway and the line to Kankakee sold to Chicago & Interurban Traction Company.

Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
