In 1971 and 1972, the Illinois Central took delivery of Evans Double Plug Door Boxcars. These 80 insulated cars saw system-wide service on the IC and later on the ICG. Typically used in paper and food service, all of the cars received the Orange "Split Rail" image. The cars were painted orange with black and white lettering and were numbered in the 150000-150079 series.
