Specific Item Information: This pack contains two IWA Sfins2 holdall van models 160 of these ferryvans were built by Waggon Union from 1987 and their design incorporated integral one-piece sides and roofs so that each complete half can be lifted and slid over the other, using the distinctive handwheels at each end, for unencumbered loading and unloading. When built they were operated by Cargowaggon GMbH and ISIS/Norsk Hydro. The Hydro wagons were primarily used to transport fertiliser from Immingham to destinations in the Midlands, Scotland and south Wales. Those in Cargowaggon livery saw more varied use on steel traffic, bottled water and newsprint in both block trains and Speedlink wagonload services. Many are still in use on trains carrying aluminium ingots from Ditton Foundry near Warrington to Nievenheim in Germany via the Channel tunnel. 30 of the Sfins2 vans have had the hoods removed and been converted into timber carriers which we are also offering. Features: 2mm/N scale model of the IWA Sfins2 holdall van Pack of two wagons, each with individual running number and decoration
Model Information: Unspecified Body Style
Road Name History:
Cargowaggon was founded in Frankfurt, Germany by Swiss shipping company Danzas, to undertake trans-European shipment of customers rail cargo. The company specified and purchased wagons from mainly German manufacturers, which were then sub-leased or hired to customers.
The company was started through an invitation to manufacture and manage new rail vehicles for Ford Europe in 1979, to allow transportation of motor vehicle sub-assemblies between various European factories. By 1997 jointly owned by Australian business services company Brambles Industries, and Danzas, the company was purchased by GE Capital Services.
Brand/Importer Information:
Revolution Trains is a small UK-based model train company set up in late 2014 by two enthusiasts in their spare time.
Highly detailed, accurate models in N, OO and now O available to pre-order direct from them or from selected retailers. Their aim is simple – to bring model railway enthusiasts together to crowd-fund projects they want but that may be economically unviable for the major manufacturers.
