There is no decoder socket, so installing a decoder in a DC version is possible but requires a wired decoder and modifications of the PCB (printed circuit board). We call it friendly as it does not require modification of others parts of the model.
See on www.1zu160.net for decoder installation (in German).
Prototype History: The DB V60 is a 640 hp (480 kW) 3-axle Diesel-Hydraulic shunting locomotive built for the Deutschen Bundesbahn (former Western Germany state railway company) between 1956 and 1964. A total of 942 V60 locomotives were built by 8 different manufacturers.
In 1968, the series was reclassified as Baureihe BR 260 (light variant) and BR 261 (heavy variant).
In 1987 the engine was classified as a minor locomotive (Kleinlok) and reclassified BR 360 and BR 361. A radio controlled variant was also designed and classified BR 364 (light) or BR 365 (heavy).
In 1997, some locomotives were re-motorized and reclassified as BR 362 (light) or BR 363 (heavy).

The DB V60 must not be confused with its namesake DR V60 (later BR 105/106) built approximately at the same period by the Deutschen Reichsbahn (Eastern Germany).

Road Name History: Deutsche Bahn AG (abbreviated as DB, DB AG or DBAG) is a German railway company. Headquartered in Berlin, it is a private joint-stock company (AG), with the Federal Republic of Germany being its single shareholder. Deutsche Bahn describes itself as the second-largest transport company in the world, after the German postal and logistics company Deutsche Post / DHL, and is the largest railway operator and infrastructure owner in Europe. It carries about two billion passengers each year.

Deutsche Bahn (literally "German Railway" in German) came into existence in 1994 as the successor to the former state railways of Germany, the Deutsche Bundesbahn ("German Federal Railway") of West Germany and the Deutsche Reichsbahn ("German Empire Railway") of East Germany. It also gained ownership of former railway assets in West Berlin held by the Verwaltung des ehemaligen Reichsbahnvermögens (Administration of the Former Reichsbahn Assets).
