Road Name History: Atlantic Railway was launched in 2020 to take over operation of the 11 mile former Yadkin Railroad line from Halls Ferry Jct. to Badin, North Carolina. Yadkin had been acquired by Southern who was succeeded by Norfolk Southern. The primary customer on the line, an Alcoa aluminum plant, closed in 2006 leaving virtually no traffic on the line. In 2018 the Foxville & Northern restarted operations until a permanent designated operator could be found. In 2020 Atlantic Railway took the reigns. They are now working to attract new customers.
