Company History: English Welsh & Scottish Railway International Ltd. was founded in 1996. The Company's line of business includes operating line-haul railroad passenger and freight railways. On 28 June 2007, Deutsche Bahn announced it had agreed to purchase EWS.

Successor/Parent History:
DB Schenker Rail changed its name to DB Cargo on 1 March 2016. DB Cargo is a European (mainly German) railway cargo carrier. The company was formed from the freight operating section of the Deutsche Bahn with the addition of various European rail freight operating companies.

Brief History:
