Company History: The CUVA opened in 1911 to switch steel mills in the Cleveland, Ohio area. As late as the 1980s, traffic levels required 18 EMD switchers to patrol this 16 mile railroad. In 2002, The Cuyahoga Valley Railway was combined with the River Terminal Railroad under the Cleveland Works Railway banner.
Successor/Parent History: The CWRO was born from the 2002 merger of the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad and the River Terminal Railroad and serves Arcelor-Mittal’s Cleveland (steel) Works. The line receives scrap, coke and some slab steel and ships slabs and coils. They also serve a Sunoco refinery. The nickname for the line is “The Crow,” a corruption of their reporting marks. The CWRO has around 35 EMD switchers, mostly SW1001’s and SW1500’s on their roster.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
