Company History:
The VC was established in 1926 as part of the reorganization of the Potomac Fredericksburg & Piedmont, a 38 mile 3’ gauge line between Fredericksburg and Orange, Virginia. As part of the reorganization, the line was standard gauged. Just 11 years later, all but one mile of line on the Fredericksburg end was abandoned. Operations ended in 1983 when a trestle on the line was condemned. With no money to repair it, the VC was officially abandoned the following year.
