Company History: The SNC was established in 2011 by the Iowa Pacific Holdings shortline group to be the new designated operator of the county owned, 57 mile, former Delaware & Hudson line between Saratoga Springs and North Creek, New York. It was originally intended to be just a tourist train operation but SNC resumed freight operations (the first since D&H quit the line in 1998) in 2013. The SNC fleet included an S-1, two BL2’s (both veterans of Bangor & Aroostook), an S-2, an E8A, and a B39-8E (which Iowa Pacific moved over from their San Luis & Rio Grande.) Unfortunately, the freight traffic turned out to be a flash in the pan and revenue from the tourist trains did not cover the costs. SNC announced it would close in April of 2018.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
