ŽSSK Cargo (Slovakian Cargo Railway Cie)

Company History: Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, a.s. (ŽSSK Cargo) is Slovak state-owned freight railway operating company, based in Bratislava.
In 2002 a company Železničná spoločnosť was established as a successor of personal and cargo transport part of the Železnice Slovenskej republiky. In 2005 this new company was further split into "Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko, a. s." providing Passenger transport services and "Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, a. s." (ŽSSK CARGO or ŽSCS) providing cargo services.

Brief History: Slovakia is a central European country bordered by the Czech Republic and Poland to the North, Ukraine to the West, Austria to the East and Hungary to the South.
Slovakia in its current form was created in 1993 after the split of the former Czechoslovakia in two independent countries, the other one being the Czech Republic. Czechoslovakia was itself created in 1918 after it gained independence from the Austro-Hungarian empire.
