Company History:
The CVR launched in 1996 as a spin-off from BNSF. They operate lines between Dodge City, Kansas and Boise City, Oklahoma and from Satanta, Kansas to Springfield, Colorado. Total mileage is 254 (putting them between EJ&E and Pittsburgh & Lake Erie in relative length.) Most of the business is from the agriculture industry but they also move cement, pipe, sand and utility poles. Traffic is modest, requiring just seven GP30’s (most are ex-D&RGW) and a GP26 to keep things moving. During the busy harvest season, CVR borrows power from their sister line in New Mexico, Southwestern Railroad.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
