Company History: The DCRR is the freight hauling subsidiary of the Indiana Railroad Museum. The line runs 16 miles from a connection with Norfolk Southern in Huntingburg north through Jasper and on to Dubois. The line past Dubois is used by the museum for tourist trains. Traffic includes petroleum products and soybean meal. An Alco S2 switcher is used for freight operations. Like many old French names in the American Midwest, Dubois has been phoneticized and is pronounced “Dewboyz.”
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
