Prototype History: A box trailer is one of the most common trailers in the road transport industry. These trailers are used for transporting all kinds of cargo on the nation's highways.

A 45 foot trailer can typically haul more than 70,000 pounds of cargo and weighs (unladen) about 12,000 pounds. The volume allows for about60 retail sized (48" x 20") pallets. Alternatively, it can hail about 30 Military ISO containers at (35" x 45.5"). This sized trailer is often used for international shipping in North America (Canada and Mexico).
Road Name History: Showa Maritime Co., Ltd. was founded in 1959. The Company's line of business includes providing ferries for the transportation of passengers or vehicles
Brand/Importer Information: Con-Cor has been in business since 1962. Many things have changed over time as originally they were a complete manufacturing operation in the USA and at one time had upwards of 45 employees. They not only designed the models, but they also built their own molds, did injection molding, painting, printing and packaging on their models.

Currently, most of their manufacturing has been moved overseas and now they import 90% of their products as totally finished goods, or in finished components. They only do some incidental manufacturing today within the USA.

Important Note: The Con-Cor product numbering can be very confusing. Please see here in the article how to properly enter Con-Cor stock numbers in the TroveStar database.
