Company History: NOGC serves a 32 mile former Missouri Pacific line in the greater New Orleans, Louisiana area. Specifically, they interchange with Union Pacific in Westwego and run to Gretna and Myrtle Grove. NOGC serves about 20 customers hauling chemicals, food, grain, oils, petroleum products and steel. The company was launched in 1999 when the Rio Grande Pacific shortline group purchased the New Orleans Lower Coast Railroad from the RailTex shortline group.
Successor/Parent History: Rio Grande Pacific Corporation (RGPC) is a privately held, Fort Worth, Texas-based holding company for regional freight railroads. Through various subsidiaries, RGPC provides complementary services, including signal construction and design, passenger operations, equipment remanufacturing and dispatching services, to short line railroads and transit agencies across the United States. Our properties serve approximately 140 freight customers, including many Fortune 500 firms, and move a diverse mixture of commodities in the agricultural, chemical, lumber, mineral and recycling industries.
