Company History:
The Patriot Woods Railroad was born in 2010 when the Patriot Rail shortline group purchased the Weyerhaeuser Woods Railroad from Weyerhaeuser. The line consisted of a 23 mile route from the Kelso, Washington area northwest to a large lumber mill at Toutle. Weyerhaeuser sold this line along with five other shortlines they owned to Patriot Rail at the end of 2010. The name was changed to Patriot Woods Railroad at that time. The Green Mountain Mill in Toutle had already closed when Patriot bought the line, leaving them only waste water from the pulp mill to deliver to a local water treatment plant. In March of 2015, the waste water began moving in a newly finished pipeline and the railroad was closed. We have just one photo of Patriot Woods and it is joined by more Penn Central from 1973 to 1975.
