Company History: Opened in 1895 between Akron and Cleveland, Ohio, the AB&C was the longest electrified railroad in the world (40 miles) at the time. Its opening marked the beginning of the Golden Age of Traction, an age that would end in 1925. Passengers were whisked between Akron and Cleveland in two and a half hours. There is a fair amount of conflicting information about the destiny of this company. Sometime between 1899 and 1902, AB&C was merged with other local lines to form Northern Ohio Traction (the “& Light” was added later.) However it appears the AB&C name continued to be used on the original route until at least 1909. The route was abandoned in 1932.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
