Company History: Opened in 1907, the B&I ran an electric interurban and freight line from Boise, Idaho through Eagle, Star and Middleton to Caldwell a distance of 29 miles. Box motors handled package freight and pulled standard freight cars interchanged from connecting linehaul railroads. Streetcar service was provided in Boise. Around 1912, a group of investors from Pittsburgh consolidated the B&I with the Boise Valley Railway and a trio of area power generating stations to form the Idaho Railway Light & Power Company. The railroad was operated under the Idaho Traction Company name.
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
