Company History:
In 2014 the Palouse River & Coulee City announced they would cease service on their branch between Walla Walla and Drayton, Washington due to deterioration of the track and insufficient traffic to warrant repairing it. The Port Of Columbia wanted the route re-opened and partnered with the Frontier Rail shortline group to be the designated operator. Frontier established the Columbia-Walla Walla Railway and operations on the branch resumed in 2017. In 2019, C-WW took over operation of the PCC line south of Walla Walla to Weston. In 2020, flood damage resulted in this second line being cut back to Milton Freewater. Smith Foods, a huge frozen food operation in Weston, established a trans-load at Milton Freewater.
Successor/Parent History:
Frontier Rail is a small shortline group.
