Company History: The DRRV was launched in 2017 as a subsidiary of the Chesapeake & Delaware shortline group to assume operations of three lines owned by the government of Morris County, New Jersey. Morristown & Erie had been the previous operator. The Chester Branch is a former Lackawanna route that runs from Lake Junction to Succasunna. There are 2 customers on this branch shipping adhesives, building material, lumber and paper. The High Bridge Branch is a former Jersey Central line that runs from Ferromonte Junction to Flanders. It also has two customers shipping or receiving building materials, lumber and plastic. The Dover & Rockaway Branch (operated under the Jersey Central flag for most of its history) runs from D&R Junction to an industrial park in Rockaway. It has five customers contributing scrap metal, plastic for pipe, packaging and polymer additives and well as more lumber and building materials to the traffic mix. Locomotives from their sister road Black River & Western are often assigned to DRRV.
Successor/Parent History: Chesapeake and Delaware, LLC (C&D) is the parent of 5 railroad companies spanning 250 miles across New Jersey. The combined market knowledge and flexibility of our Class I railroad connections and our affiliate railways allows us to provide you the most competitive options and alternatives to truck.
