Company History:
The FR&NE was established in 1904 to convert a logging line into a common carrier. It ran from a connection with the Georgia Northern at Ticknor to Pelham, Georgia, 24 miles to the southwest. Pelham was already served by Atlantic Coast Line but local interests wanted another option. Traffic included manufactured goods, oil, fertilizer, lumber, and cotton. They also served a naval storage depot. Three locomotives were enough to keep the trains running. Georgia Northern bought control of the FL&NE in 1910 but continued to operate it under its own flag until the last train ran in 1946 when it was abandoned.
Successor/Parent History:
Georgia Northern is the most important of the Pidcock Lines.
