Company History: The CLSL was born in 1982 when Illinois Central Gulf sold their 29 mile line between Columbia and Silver Creek, Mississippi to the Marion County Railroad Authority with CLSL becoming the designated operator. Traffic included chemicals, forest products, furniture, and paper. The owner of the CLSL sold this operation to the Gloster Southern in 1988 and moved the Columbia & Silver Creek company over to another former Illinois Central line between Taylorsville and Soso, Mississippi. The “new” CLSL line closed in 1992 and the line that was sold to Gloster Southern closed in 1995.
