Transportation Company - Ware Shoals - Railroad

Company History: This 5 mile shortline was built in 1905 to link a textile mill in Ware Shoals, South Carolina to connections with Southern and Piedmont & Northern at Shoals Junction. Traffic was primarily coal for the mill's boilers. Their all-time diesel roster consisted of a single GE 44-tonner numbered 1955. It was purchased secondhand from Southern Railway who had inherited it from Chattanooga Traction. Ware Shoals shut down in 1985.
