Transportation Company - Michigan & Indiana - Railroad

Company History: The LMIC switches the 66 miles of track serving the steel mill in Burns Harbor, Indiana. This integrated mill is Arcelor Mittal’s second largest in the USA, producing sheet steel primarily for the auto industry. Prior to 2003, the mill and railroad were owned by Bethlehem Steel who first opened the finishing mill (and presumably the railroad to feed it) in 1964. They then passed to International Steel Group and finally Arcelor Mittal in 2005.
Successor/Parent History:
ArcelorMittal is the successor to Mittal Steel, a business originally set up in 1976 by Mr Lakshmi N Mittal, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors. ArcelorMittal was created through the merger of Arcelor and Mittal Steel in 2006.

We operate our own fleet of ships, leased ships, time charter, contracts and spot fixtures to transport raw materials and finished products to our steel plants and our customers. Our ships range from very large dry bulk carriers with a capacity of more than 200,000 tonnes to smaller ships of 5,000 tonnes.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
