Transportation Company - San Manuel Arizona - Railroad

Company History: SMARRCO was built by Magma Copper Company in 1955 to connect their mine and concentrator at San Manuel to a connection with what is today the Copper Basin Railroad at Hayden, Arizona, 29 miles away. Operations began with a quartet of RS-3’s (with the more common long-hood-forward arrangement) which were later joined by GP38-2’s. Magma was acquired by BHP Billiton in 1996 and three years later SMARRCO closed. BHP sold the operation to Capstone Mining in 2012 and the railroad has since been re-opened.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
