Shenandoah Valley

Company History: The SVRR launched in 1993 as a subsidiary of the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley to purchase the 20 mile line between Staunton and Pleasant Valley, Virginia from Norfolk Southern. This was formerly a Chesapeake & Western route. The locomotive fleet includes a GP9 originally built for Chesapeake & Ohio with the short hood as the front, an RS11m originally built for Norfolk & Western equipped with dual cab controls, a GP38 built for Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines with duplex style dual cab controls (note the cab face over the short hood bulges forward) and an RS4TC built for the Air Force.

Successor/Parent History: Wonderful trip, fun for all, beautiful, and historic ride. The ride was comfortable, the staff knowledgeable, and scenery sublime! I cannot imagine a better way to enjoy a vacation, time with family, and the gorgeous views.
