Company History: The SBRR was launched in 1989 by the Robey Railroads group to take over operation of the 24 mile former Erie route between Lackawaxen and Honesdale, Pennsylvania that had been operated by the Lackawaxen & Stourbridge. The SBRR closed in 2005 when heavy rains led Pennsylvania Power & Light to open the gates of the Lake Wallenpaupack Dam which damaged the trestle over Wallenpaupack Creek. In 2008, the line was sold and after a brief period of operation by Central Penn Railroad, responsibility for operations was turned over to Morristown & Erie in January of 2009 using the Stourbridge Railway name. Due to a general lack of traffic, service ended in 2011 until 2015 when operations resumed as a tourist line under the Delaware Lackawaxen & Stourbridge name.
